SUMMARY:Friends of The St Christopher School AGM
DESCRIPTION:  \nDear Parents and Families\, \n  \nFollowing the success of our recent ‘Friends of The St. Christopher School Association’ focus group meeting\, we would like to give notice of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on Wednesday 13th March 2024 at 7pm. \nTo make this accessible to all\, it will be held online via Microsoft Teams –  LINK \nAs we are a brand new association\, the AGM will be fairly quick and straightforward. The two main things we need to do in this meeting are; \n\nElect the ’Friends of’ committee members\nVote to adopt the constitution\n\nThe ‘Friends of’ association must have a committee. We feel the committee should have at least three ‘Officer’ roles of Chair\, Treasurer and Secretary and an additional five to seven  ‘ordinary member’s’. \nAll committee members are elected by the attendees of the AGM and will hold their position for one year/until the next AGM. These members must be friends of the school i.e. a parent\,  teacher\, grandparent or friend of the school. \nThe ‘Ordinary Members’ are equally responsible for the control of the association but will not have a specific job role. Ordinary committee members have voting rights in committee meetings to make decisions on behalf of the association. \nWe are going to follow the Parentkind Model Constitution as this will allow us to become a registered charity if and when we wish to; we must do if we raise more than £5000 a year! Committee members would then become trustees of the registered charity. \nA constitution is a document that sets out the fundamental rules and procedures the committee must follow when managing the ‘Friends of’ association. A copy of the proposed constitution is available to view on the school website \nPlease take your time to read through this before you attend the meeting. Copies are also available at request from the school office. \nIf you would like any further information about being a Committee Member\, please contact office@tscs.southend.sch.uk \nPlease note that if you do not want to be a committee member but still want to be a part of the ‘Friends of’ association\, you are still more than welcome to get involved by sharing your ideas\, volunteering at future events and also attending open committee meetings which will occur each term. \nWe look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 13th March 2024 at 7pm.\n \nThanks \nHolly
