CHRISTOPHER'S COTTAGE
Christopher’s Cottage is a purpose built residential / respite facility where children and young people with special needs are looked after by specialist staff in a safe environment.
It comprises six respite care bedrooms, two staff bedrooms and a visitors’ bedroom (all with en-suite facilities and emergency call bells).
Christopher‘s Cottage is a specialist respite care centre for children with special needs aged 5 – 18. Young people from across the south east Essex area are referred by Social Care for short breaks at the Cottage. This is to enable families, carers and children to have respite for up to two weeks at a time allowing family life to be sustained throughout the rest of the year. All places at the Cottage are commissioned by Social Care Departments and are obtained through allocations granted from Social Workers.
The Cottage is open all year round and caters for up to 50 young people across the year. There is space for up to 6 children at a time. It is inspected separately by Ofsted and recently received an overall ‘Good‘ judgement. For further information contact Beckie Shelford, Cottage Manager.
