Experience Rich Curriculum
Learning Beyond the Classroom
At The St Christopher School, we believe that real learning happens everywhere – not just within our school walls. Our experience-rich curriculum is designed to give every learner amazing opportunities to explore the world around them, practice vital life skills, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Community Adventures with Our Minibus Fleet
Our fleet of minibuses opens up endless possibilities for learning in the real world. All classes can access these vehicles to explore our local community and beyond, visiting:
The Beach – for geography, science, and sensory experiences
Local Parks – developing physical skills and environmental awareness
Supermarkets – practicing money skills, choice-making, and independence
Museums – bringing history, art, and culture to life
Community Facilities – libraries, leisure centres, cafes, and shops
Educational Venues – farms, nature centres, and discovery centres
These trips aren’t just fun days out – they’re essential learning experiences that help our young people generalise their skills and gain confidence in different environments.

Our learners have the amazing opportunity to visit our fabulous caravans at Mersea Island Caravan Park. It presents safe opportunities for our learners to practice their life skills and apply their learning in a different place.
A number of our groups access these regularly and some even have residential stays there!
Its is a great spot with quick and easy access on the beach and into Cudmore Grove County Park. There is a pool onsite to practice our swimming skills and some wonderful wildlife walks to pursue!
We really are very lucky to access such an amazing resource!
