Our speech and language team of three therapists work across the school supporting children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties. These difficulties can include attention and listening, understanding spoken language, speech sounds, being able to express wants and ideas, abstract language skills such as verbal reasoning and problem solving and social skills such as managing friendships and disagreements. We often use the pyramid as a guide when looking at what skills to work and build upon.

All children have access to the speech and language therapy team at the St Christopher’s school.  We strive to achieve a blended approach so that staff work together with the speech and language team to support children’s communication needs throughout the school day. We offer indirect and direct therapy and are constantly carrying out observations and assessments whilst collaborating with the teachers to address each child’s changing needs. All new staff attend an introduction to communication course and we regularly provide staff training and support within the classrooms.

We are always keen to work alongside parents to help support communication at home as well as in school. We have created a resource base for you to tap into at home. There are various categories and levels and so you are able to select what is appropriate for your child.
